Context and environment
Rancho Taboga is an organization of young people who are willing to dedicate their lives in the development of sustainable projects. We provide a variety of options for the volunteer to make their voluntary service in different fields within the two locations where our accommodations operate. Some of the usual activities at the place are social events at the main porch and sports events at the soccer field one block away from Rancho Taboga in Conchalio Beach, La Libertad. These events allow volunteers and interns to know more about the inhabitants of the community and seek of ideas on what could they help, how to improve and check for feedbacks. The workshops related to arts takes place at the porch or at the Taboga Hut inside of the property, in the San Salvador, you
can join a professional art group who perform their skills in different schools and promote a healthy life by doing exercise and outdoor activities . All projects related to sports and environment conservation will take place at designated areas at the beach in spaces that are open for the community such as: Soccer fields, public schools, beach and reserves. The recycling project takes place onsite near the entrance where all the machinery is available to recycle coconut shells and promote the benefits of the substrate which is the final product. The local government is one great ally to the project since it provides a healthy development center to all young people that want to have a fun by learning new skills.
Also, for all those volunteers who are medics, can get involve in the Ludoteca project which is held a children’s hospital in San Salvador where play and smiles are the best therapy of a sick children. These volunteers will be working along with Salvadoran medics and they will share its experience. Furthermore, if for all interested in more variety the volunteer will join with a partner organization in San Salvador in order to promote reading, outdoor activities, planting trees, beach cleaning and leading clubs in schools.
The role of the Rancho Taboga is to provide training, tasks, feedback, 24/7 support, projects, entertainment, accommodation, food, transportation and development to all volunteers and interns from all over the world who are willing to travel abroad or came to El Salvador for a volunteer experience either in San Salvador or La Libertad..
Our two mentors will provide the learning stage to all volunteers and interns in the initial stage. These delegates, have an experience in the previous European Volunteer Service term with volunteers from Spain and Italy and other volunteers not associated with EVS. They will, promote sports, culture and healthy lifestyle. Now, both of them will support the volunteers in providing a place where all ideas coming from anyone can be taken into account and incorporate them into new ideas for the development of the youth community in El Salvador.

Transportation in El Salvador is a challenge, but we will provide a training on the connections routes and a tour of which connections will be used in order to travel through El Salvador and mainly the capital city. While in San Salvador, volunteers can stay in Mejicanos and bus transportation. If
you want to take a taxi in San Salvador prices might go around USD 5 to 8 depending on the distance, taxi travels will be extraordinary due to the price, however, Rancho Taboga will provide taxi transportation to the volunteer when needed in special occasions, such as meetings, emergencies, etc. Volunteers who wish to travel, a trip to other main cities of El Salvador go through USD 2 to 4 and with an additional cost if you are travelling to San Salvador.
Accommodation
TV (at living room), Electricity, Rustic & Western Style Toilet, Bottled Water, Internet (only in San Salvador), Furniture included. Volunteers wishing to stay in San Salvador will be living in a homestay
accommodation, while those in La Libertad can stay in a Rancho Taboga at the beach with same furniture and facilities
Food
Volunteers that wish to stay in San Salvador and La Libertad, will three meals per day and snacks prepared or can have a budget allocation of USD 100 to cover all food expenses.
Local Transport
At Mejicanos, volunteers will be covered with a budget of USD 10 to cover the bus ride and ensure the transportation through bus rides from accommodation to the project. Volunteers staying at La Libertad will not receive a transportation budget since the project is three blocks away from accommodation and travelling to the project can be done by walking. The budget for transportation will be given by the hosting organization every month. Travel costs such as tourism are at the expense of the volunteer

Activities/Agenda: La Libertad Environmental conservation
During the week:
8:00 to 9:00: BREAK FAST
9:00 to 12:00: Construction of family and community gardens with young members of the community for food security to improve the nutrition of young people and their families at the ministry of agriculture center.
12:00 to 13:00: LUNCH TIME
13:00 to 15:00: Activities for cleaning beaches and rivers that include youth groups to promote
environmental rescue. Volunteers travel to the nearby beaches and rivers nearby for cleaning with youth or community members.
15:00 to 17:00: Free time for recreational and cultural activities for the volunteer. The volunteer has the option of supporting the community board in municipal projects or promoting activities and the beaches and rivers where they currently work.
18:00 to 19:00: DINNER TIME
19:00 to 22:00: Free Time for planning, listening to music, events, gatherings, etc. All volunteers that
desire to go out for the night can do so, however, they are expected to keep a peaceful environment at
the center and a good conduct in other places of travel. (It is important wrote daily agendas during this time for planning and ideas for the next day.)
23:00 to 8:00: QUIET HOURS

for all: Saturday and Sunday are is days to relax. Events and trips
for the weekend will be available at desk if anyone wants to travel or attend.

Glasswing International activities: Monday and Wednesday (Saturday: optional)
8:00 9:00: Weekly meeting for feedback and concern resolution.
9:00 12:00: Volunteers will engage in Glasswing organization activities for various activities such as:
Reading workshops, donation giveaways, club leading in various themes, etc.
12:00 to 13:00: LUNCH TIME
13:00 to 16:00: Meet again with Glasswing representatives and follow up the activities with various
groups of children.
16:00 beyond: FREE TIME
*Volunteers who wish to attend on Saturday from 7 to 12 pm activities on the Glasswing’s Glee dancing project can join as an optional choice.
Children Hospital activities: Tuesday, Thursday and Friday
8:00 to 8:30: Arrive at the Ludoteca, washing hands, change tshirt,
do some little works of maintenance of the material of the Ludoteca, sometimes accompany a coordinator of the Ludoteca in the hospital wards to make the "previous diagnosis" of how many kids are there, their age, their conditions, and if they request any material in particular.
8:30 to 9:00: Helping the coordinators to prepare the boxes with the material (toys, material for music
or art activities and so on) depending on the "previous diagnosis". Prepare to go to the hospital (wearing a special tunic and a funny animal cap, take napkin and alcohol gel). Then all the group of volunteer is split in different groups that will go to the different wards. The coordinators give to the volunteers the last recommendation and they inform them about the guided activity of the day. Then the groups go to their respective ward.
9:00 to 10:30: The groups arrive at the ward, they wash the hands and use the alcohol gel, they split in the different rooms and they start the activities with the material they took. The guided activities are held with parents and kids. During this time the volunteers play, sing, talk with them. Not everyday the material consist only in toys but also in art activities, face painting and so on.
10:30 to 12:00: The groups go back to the Ludoteca, they do the disinfection of themselves and all the material that has been used in the wards. Then the coordinators give tasks to all the volunteers like collect and organize the materials in all the boxes, make maintenance of the materials, help to prepare the material for art activities. Also there's an important moment in which volunteers and coordinators share their experience of the day, talking about good moments and difficulties. The coordinators or thevolunteers help each other with suggestions and advices.
13:00 to 16:00: Same activities of the morning.
16:00 to beyond: FREE TIME.
